Georgian-South Ossetian conflict

In South Ossetia we help communities address the societal trauma caused by conflict.

In 2009 we started a programme to promote civic activism and local problem solving in communities in South Ossetia. We began by working with teachers to develop their skills for working with traumatised children while at the same time being able to influence change in their communities. In 2013 we continued this work with students, to develop their skills in problem analysis and critical thinking.

Our work is important because people in South Ossetia are still experiencing the dire effects of the armed conflict of August 2008 and the repeated recurrences of violence since the Georgian-Ossetian armed conflict of 1990-1992.

We have been working in South Ossetia since 2008.
