We work with Georgian and Abkhaz civil societies to build confidence and deepen understanding about the conflict and opportunities for peace.
Our early work supported a wide range of public outreach initiatives with groups affected by the conflict. Since 2008, we have focused on promoting expert analysis and dialogue on key conflict issues, and stimulating critical thinking and debate in society. We have also started to develop education programmes for students in Tbilisi and Sukhum/i using the knowledge and expertise gained through this expert dialogue.
Our work is important because there are very few channels for Georgians and Abkhaz to interact with each other across the conflict divide. A whole generation has therefore grown up with no experience of coexisting peacefully.
We have been working on the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict context since 1997.
