Ruth Simpson

Ruth Simpson

Acting Lebanon Country Director

Ruth leads on development, design, monitoring and evaluation and learning for our work across the Europe, Middle East and North Africa (EMENA) region.

She plays a key role on the EMENA programme management team, including representing the programme internally and externally, financial management and strategic development. Prior to this she was our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Coordinator, leading on strengthening our systems, processes and tools.

Before joining International Alert, Ruth worked with a number of international NGOs and the UK government, providing technical advice and capacity-building support, and managing peacebuilding and armed violence prevention programmes in central and east Africa, MENA and Latin America, with a focus on programme design and strengthening monitoring, evaluation and learning, and impact assessment.

She has an MA in International Law and Conflict Resolution from SOAS, University of London, within which she specialised in mediation, peacebuilding, transitional justice and reconciliation, focusing on MENA and central Africa. She also holds an Advanced Certificate in Adlerian counselling from the Adlerian Society UK Institute for Individual Psychology.
