Gender in peacebuilding

This research project aims to deepen and broaden our understanding of the role of gender in peacebuilding from a 'relational' perspective, addressing the links between gender and social relations.

Gender equality, including equal political participation for women and men, are important markers of inclusive peacebuilding and therefore sustainable peace. Focusing on Burundi, Colombia, Nepal and Uganda, our research examines issues related to access to justice, economic recovery, inter-generational conflict and continuums of violence, and how these interrelate to peacebuilding and gender.

Through this work, we hope to ensure international peacebuilding policies and practices contribute to non-violent and equitable gender relations within societies and take into account the diverse security needs of all women, men, girls and boys.
