Marisa Goulden is a Lecturer in Climate Change at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and the School of International Development at the University of East Anglia. She conducts research and teaches on topics related to adaptation to environmental change and international development, water security and management of water resources, human security, livelihoods and resilience.

Roger Few has a background in human geography, political ecology, and environment and health in developing countries. His current research focuses on vulnerability and adaptation to natural hazards/disasters and climate change, with special interest in how households, communities and institutions respond to the health risks associated with climatic and environmental hazards. He is Senior Research Fellow at the School of International Development, University of East Anglia, and is a member of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research.

Mamadou Kani Konaté is a senior sociologist. His research, in support of international organisations, has focused on different sectors. Ten years ago, he founded the Centre for Research and Training Support (CAREF). CAREF is an independent research and consulting firm based in Bamako, Mali. It provides policy analysis on socio-economic aspects of health and education. CAREF works in partnership with research institutions, academic institutions, and non-governmental organisations.

Boniface Denis Umoh is acting director at the Institute for Development Studies of the University of Nigeria, EnuguCampus (Nsukka) in Nigeria. His research interests are the relationships between population and resources; environmental crises-induced population displacements; food security issues; sanitation and health of vulnerable populations; access to and use of water in water-stressed locations; traditional institutions in environmental management.

Professor Boubacar Yamba works in the Department of Geography, Abdou Moumouni University, Niamey in Niger. He currently coordinates a research programme on agriculture and food security in Niger.  For the last 30 years, he has led research in rural Niger on natural resource management in relation to tenure, and changes in the agrarian systems of the Sahel.

Lulsegged Abebe is the Africa Union Senior Adviser at International Alert, and previously Alert's West Africa Programme Manager. He is a researcher and practitioner on conflict analysis and resolutions, specialising in Africa. He holds a PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, George Mason University.

Julia Weiner-Mercier has a background in International Relations, Security and African Politics. She worked at International Alert as a research officer for the West Africa Programme and coordinated the Niger River Basin project.

Cynthia Brady is a Senior Conflict Advisor with USAID's Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance in the Office of Conflict Management and Mitigation (DCHA/CMM). She is the Agency's technical lead on environment/natural resources and conflict. She is also part of CMM's Africa Regional Team. She holds a master's degree in international affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University and a bachelor's degree in political science from Denison University.
