Gender and masculinities in Myanmar

In Myanmar, more and more people are talking about gender when discussing politics, conflict and peace. Sometimes people use the word ‘gender’ when they talk about women. But that isn’t correct.

Gender refers to the differences in social expectations put on men and women, and the relationships of power between men and women.
