Paul Nyulaku
Paul Nyulaku joined International Alert as Country Director, Nigeria in February 2022. He leads Alert Peace building programmes in Nigeria and the wider Lake Chad Region.
Paul is a peace, security and justice professional. He has led and overseen the strategic direction, management, and delivery of programmes and operations that promote peace, stability and human rights in conflict-affected contexts across Africa. Paul has over 20 years of experience in the field of peace and security, with extensive expertise in Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR), advanced stabilisation, policy development, evidence-based advocacy, agile and innovative programming and partnership building.
Paul has secured and managed large grants from various donors, such as UK CSSF, EU, Open Society Foundation, and IrishAid, to implement multi-year projects on climate change and peacebuilding, access to justice, SGBV, security sector accountability and community resilience. Paul has facilitated several high-level policy dialogues and technical workshops with national governments across Africa, regional actors, and international partners on DDR; PCVE; strategic peacebuilding; defence and security sector reform. He strengthened the capacity and coordination of national and local peace actors through training, peer learning and mutual engagements. Paul is passionate and committed to advancing the cause of peace, security and justice, and currently holds a Masters in Peace and Conflict Studies, PhD in Defence and Strategic Studies and several professional certifications. He is an Alumnus of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
