Country Director, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)

Lucy has been with International Alert since 2015, initially as part of our Great Lakes team. In June 2024, she became the Country Director of our programme in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where she has been based since 2019. The DRC programme is Alert’s largest portfolio and one of the most diverse of Alert’s programmes worldwide. It supports the government and civil society in peacebuilding and conflict prevention and includes cross-border projects across the region.

In her current role, Lucy oversees the work of our programmes and partners and ensures the quality, accuracy, and control of finance and operations. She is also responsible for advocacy, political engagement/ influencing, and communication on our DRC programme.

Before assuming the Country Director role, Lucy was Alert’s DRC Director of Programmes for three years, heading up our technical team and ensuring the implementation of our programming strategy across the country. Prior to joining Alert, Lucy worked for Conciliation Resources, a peer peacebuilding organisation, and Chatham House. She holds an MSc in Violence, Conflict and Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies and a BSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
