Senior Finance and Operations Officer, Africa - Contract Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance specialist to support a transitional period within the Africa Programme (AP). International Alert (Alert) will be reviewing its regional support structures as part of our 2021-22 Resilience Plan, to ensure effective and timely support to country operations.

In this role, you will support management of the Africa Programme budget and maintaining robust financial and operational management systems for programming in Mali, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, Kenya and Ethiopia. You will cover all aspects of financial accounting and reporting, management of grants, and capacity-building of country office colleagues. You will also support in analysis of needs, gaps and strengths as part of the Resilience Plan change management process. You will report to the Africa Director, with functional supervision by the Director of Finance and Operations. You will also provide direct support and coaching to the Africa Grants and Finance Officer.

You will have proven senior finance management capacity, as well as experience in managing operational issues including security, human resources and administration. Experience working in the non-profit sector is critical. You will be expected to integrate rapidly into the Africa team and be dynamic and proactive in the role.

  • Salary: £34,628 per annum, plus excellent benefits
  • Contract duration: 6 months
  • Location: Flexible- can be based in one of Alerts offices
