Synthesis situational assessment report and case studies: Ukraine

The synthesis report summarises the research findings of a situational analysis with conflict risk potential in three regions of Ukraine – south of Odesa (part of which is also known as Bessarabia), Kherson and Zakarpattia – which are considered vulnerable to geopolitical pressure and destabilisation.

The report is based on the three case studies that examine the internal dynamics in seven hromadas. The analysis focuses on identifying opportunities to support community resilience to violence and strengthen stability and prospects for sustainable peace.

The common root causes of conflict stem from underlying national-level processes (geopolitical, political, economic and social). This report, based on the three case studies, reviews them briefly to situate local dynamics in a wider context.
