EU Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution in Africa

This report consolidates the outcomes of the EU Rome seminar on conflict prevention, management and resolution in Africa and a background discussion paper prepared for the delegates by a variety of European and African authors. Based on the International Seminar on Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution in Africa, the report consolidates and summarises the aim of the seminar, that is to provide fresh insight into how the EU-Africa partnership can be re-invigorated in order strengthen conflict prevention, management and resolution in Africa as a strategic and development priority for the EU; address and meet the challenges of sustainable peace, security and development in Africa; highlight potential opportunities for EU engagement with the 2001 New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) framework and with the recently formed African Union (AU); highlight opportunities for EU engagement with civil society in the African peace and security framework.
