Peacebuilding, the World Bank and the United Nations
This project aimed to strengthen the role played by international institutions in supporting peace and development around the world.
International institutions have long committed to supporting peace in countries affected by violent conflict, but have not produced sustainable results. It is therefore important to provide these institutions with recommendations on how they can better support peace and development around the world.
We examined the behaviour, systems and practice of managing and delivering international aid, which involved research in Burundi, Liberia and Nepal. We also worked with the Asian Development Bank in Nepal to help them pilot a peacebuilding tool to strengthen their approach to conflict-sensitive programming in Nepal, which is available at www.adb.org.
