International Alert celebrates 30 years of building peace

To mark our anniversary and the International Day of Peace, we have launched a vibrant new brand, underlining our belief that peace is within our power and we can all play a role in building a more peaceful future.

In our new 30th anniversary brochure, you can read about a few examples of how we walk alongside people striving to build a more peaceful future for their families and communities. From rebuilding trust in Rwanda following the horrors of the genocide, to helping young people in Syria imagine a future free from violence, our passion for peace has shown that there is hope even in the worst crises.

That is why we have been striving to achieve everyday peace in over 60 countries for the past 30 years. Peace is just as much about communities living together, side by side, and resolving their differences without resorting to violence as it is about people signing a treaty, laying down their arms and changing government policy.

Why not watch a short video message from our patron Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu:

You can also join us at the Talking Peace Festival – a global fortnight of events from exhibitions in London through to live street art in six countries around the world, from Ukraine to Uganda.

Together we can expand peace globally. Peace truly is within our power.
