On the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict BBC Media Action Naija hosted an important conversation on sexual violence in conflict, with a focus on Nigeria.
Our Regional Director in Africa Cindy Chungong took part to discuss the systems that make sexual violence so pervasive and the role we can all play in supporting survivors and changing attitudes.
Watch this video as Cindy explains why gender-based violence exists and how it is related to violence in conflict.
Everyone has a role to play, not just policy-makers, in taking a holistic approach that looks at prevention as well as response.
