Alert gives evidence to UK Parliament

International Alert gave evidence to the House of Commons Select Committee on International Development yesterday, as part of their formal Inquiry into 'Working effectively in conflict affected and fragile states'. Giving evidence was Chris Underwood, our Head of Communications, who used a number of examples from our recent report on aid effectiveness and the experience of Alert’s field programmes in each of the three countries that had recently been visited by the MPs as part of their inquiry. Also on the panel were David Mepham, UK Director of Human Rights Watch, Sophia Swithern, Humanitarian and Conflict Policy Adviser for Oxfam and Jennifer Miguel, Technical Adviser, Women's Empowerment and Protection, from the International Rescue Committee.
