International Alert is included in this year's list of top 100 NGOs in the world by The Global Journal, for the second year running.
Alert was ranked 86 out of a possible 450 NGOs considered for the list, which includes a variety of local, national and international organisations from 27 countries around the world.
"It is fantastic to be included in this prestigious list," says our Secretary General Dan Smith. "Building peace takes time and a great deal of effort, so it is a tribute to the people we support and work with to be recognised in this way."
The list is described as "shining a light on a dynamic, innovative and inspiring sector". It is based on a review of three criteria important to the work of NGOs: innovation, impact and sustainability.
Based in Geneva and New York, The Global Journal focuses on global governance and is read widely by policy-makers, diplomats and donors. This is the second year The Global Journal has compiled the list, which it describes as "the only project of its kind".
