Read the report 'Company mechanisms for addressing human rights complaints' hereInternational Alert has collaborated with CSR Europe, a Brussels-based business network for corporate social responsibility, in developing a report aimed at companies interested in aligning their grievance mechanisms to the 2011 United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs).

The UNGPs set expectations on effective corporate mechanisms for addressing human rights complaints. But companies sometimes find it challenging to link these in practice with business processes.

The report, Company mechanisms for addressing human rights complaints, provides a practical interpretation of the eight effectiveness criteria laid out in the UNGPs for operational-level grievance mechanisms as well as examples of how companies are currently addressing employee and other stakeholder grievances.

The report is open for comments until 31 July 2013.
