International Alert employs over 100 people of 30 nationalities both in our London offices and in the regions where we work. Most are full-time staff, but we also engage consultants, interns and volunteers.

Some of these staff are part of our regional programmes in 20 countries or territories, working closely with partner organisations in conflict areas. Others focus on research, policy and advocacy on a range of conflict-related themes. They are backed by London-based financial and administrative departments and by our fundraising and communications teams.

Based: London

We are looking for a Russian-speaking Projects Support Officer to join our dynamic Eurasia team working on the South Caucasus in order to provide grants management, events management and project implementation support to specific projects within the Eurasia programme. We are looking for a highly organised and flexible individual with a ‘can-do’, customer-focused attitude, because while the main focus of the position is financial administration and logistics, the post requires frequent communication and liaison with project partners, requiring excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).

You will be responsible for administering timely internal and donor financial reports and ensuring a budget balance;  contributing to narrative internal and donor reports; budgeting and organising logistics for events; participating in the development and implementation of particular activities and projects; providing general administrative support to senior project staff. Additionally, you will develop effective relationships and maintain frequent contact with partners in the field, and conduct on-going monitoring and evaluation of projects and activities.

Based: Kigali, with extensive travel within Rwanda and occasional travel to Burundi

We are looking for a person with a talent for analytical thinking and persuasive communication, balanced with a constructive and highly collegial personal working style that can advance Alert’s goals of coalition-building and promoting peaceful outcomes in Rwanda and Burundi.

You will be responsible for supporting the continued growth and consolidation of the Rwanda/Burundi Programme. The position will work across programme projects and thematic strands to ensure that programme staff and partners have the peacebuilding knowledge and expertise needed to ensure the production of high-quality, high-impact programme outputs.

The successful candidate will have solid experience of programme design and project management in the NGO sector, including responsibility for budgets, staff and donor relations. You will have expertise on peacebuilding. You will be articulate and persuasive, and have a proven ability to build strong working relationships using collaborative approaches. You will be fluent in English, French and Kinyarwanda.

Ideally, you will also have experience of building coalitions within civil society, have relevant research experience, and possess an innovative, creative, problem-solving approach.

The successful candidate will lead project implementation, including designing and undertaking research, training and facilitating dialogue. You will act as a first point of contact for partner organisations and local stakeholders, providing support and guidance where needed. In the first instance, this position will play a key role in implementing International Alert Nepal’s Security and Justice Strand of work, with responsibility for coordinating and leading the implementation of activities in districts across Nepal. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of the programme’s new activities and will be a key member of a talented and dynamic team.

The successful candidate will play a central role in leading and delivering Alert’s work in the area of security and justice, as well as supporting the strategic development of Alert’s broader Nepal Programme. This will involve building an understanding of the security and justice needs of diverse communities and people, and communicating this understanding to policy-makers at national and international levels. With experience of undertaking evidence-based advocacy, you will design and implement advocacy strategies aimed at bringing about real improvements in the provision of security and justice in Nepal. Project management, including undertaking effective monitoring and evaluation is also key to this role and the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong skills and experience in this area.

Interested in peace? We have a three-month paid internship position for someone with energy, creativity and the ambition to make a difference.
