Activist and businesswoman Florence Ozor shares her message to mark International Women’s Day.
Florence was a leading advocate of #BringBackOurGirls – a global campaign that called for the release of the 276 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram in Nigeria. That was back in April 2014, but many of these girls remain in captivity today.
Our report with UNICEF Nigeria also found that those who have been released are often rejected when they return home because of stigmas around sexual violence. That’s why we teamed up with Florence and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Women’s Day 2016, to launch the #FutureForOurGirls campaign and raise awareness about the vital need to provide these girls with ongoing support.
A year on, watch Florence discuss her work at the Florence Ozor Foundation (FOF), the barriers women face in Nigeria and her hopes for change.
