Pushing the envelope: Creating successful and inclusive women’s rights programming in Afghanistan – what is possible and how?

This paper looks at the experiences of delivering the three-year European Union-funded project called 'Strengthening women’s role in peace' (2016–2019).

It looks back at our experience of delivering this work and highlights some of the key points that shed light on the methods, approaches and conceptualisations that can promote surprisingly good results while working on sensitive topics in locations sometimes assumed to be beyond the reach of work focusing on women’s rights.

This paper has been produced in partnership with the Peace Training and Research Organisation (PTRO).
