International Alert welcomes Nobel Peace Prize for ICAN

International Alert welcomes the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN).

The award celebrates ICAN’s tireless efforts to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons, and their campaign to ban such weapons.

Our vision is for a world where people seek to resolve their differences peacefully. And we believe that building a peaceful world is a long haul- always two steps forward, one step back. It needs the kind of persistence that ICAN have shown over the years to take us all one step closer to a world without nuclear weapons. We encourage others to work with the same passion and determination, to build peace, one step at a time.
