Meet the chef: Cordelia Peel

Cordelia Peel is Anglo-Burmese. A cook who set up Bagan, a Burmese pop up which she runs with a close friend, Cordelia is also a doctor, working mostly in the Emergency Department, and with experiences in humanitarian work in Africa and central America.

Cordelia started cooking at a young age, as part of a family that grew their own fruits and vegetables, cooked them with love, and ate together every night. As her food journey grew she appreciated more and more that the act of sitting with people around a table and eating created a special kind of connection and magic. This inspired her to run frequent dinner parties for friends, which soon developed into starting her own supperclub.

Also a previous diner at Conflict Café, at the heart of Cordelia’s cooking is a desire to bring people together over food to share an experience, conversation and a good time. One of her favourite quotes that sums up her passion is:

If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with them … The people that give you their food give you their heart.
