Peacebuilding and good governance in North Kivu
Reinforcing community reconciliation
This project aimed to reinforce community reconciliation and conflict resolution capacities in eight communities in North Kivu province in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The eight communities at the centre of this project are particularly susceptible to violent conflict due to the presence of ex-combatants and armed groups, the persistence of sexual violence and long histories of ethnic violence.
We improved people's understanding of conflict mitigation and resolution, and increased communities' ability to advocate for change at the local administration level.
In doing so, we hope to help create sustainable local governance and conflict transformation structures in these communities.
