A brief summary of just some of the events which the Campaign has co-ordinated, facilitated or presented:

March 2002 - 46th Commission on the Status of Women. The Campaign held a series of events on women, peace and security including a roundtable on gender and peace keeping operations and   gender and early warning.

7th May 2001. International Alert, the Swiss Peace Foundation and the Forum on Early Warning and Early Response (FEWER), held an Expert Consultative Meeting on Integrating Gender into Early Warning Systems in Nairobi, Kenya.

May 2001. Messenger of Peace UNESCO Conference, Athens. 14th

8th March 2001. Prize Award Ceremony for International Alert/UNIFEM Millennium Peace Prize for Women , New York.

8th March 2001. Handover of 100,000 campaign signatures at the Commission for the Status of Women, United Nations, New York.

February 2001, Two Day Conference on Women in War at York University in Collaboration with their Post Conflict Reconstruction and Development Unit.

November 29 2000. Inter-Agency Consolidated Appeals on the theme of Women in War, for humanitarian aid organised by the UN Office of the Co-ordinator ofHumanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Geneva.

November 16-18th 2000. UNESCO Conference on Women and Peacebuilding, Bilbao, Spain. The main theme of the conference was the role and participation of women regarding subjects such as peace reconstruction, violence and non-violence, war and peace, refugees, human security, official and parallel diplomacy, conflicts, nationalism and peace, social transformation, media, and peace and education

10-15th October 2000. Women in South Caucasus Building Peace, Georgia. The conference was run over 5 days in the Caucasian Hause in Tbilisi, Georgia, bringing together women’s delegations from all the conflict regions and republics in South Caucasus - Georgia, Abkhazia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, South Ossetia, Chechnia, Dagestanand Russia. The importance of the event was that for the first time since the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict began, women-leaders from different NGOs in Abkhazia participated in an event organised in Tbilisi.

5-12 September 2000. UN Millennium Assembly and Millennium Summit, New York. The largest-ever gathering of Heads of State and Heads of Government, the Summit will be a historic occasion for the 188 Member States of the Organisation to address the challenges facing the United Nations in the 21st century.

June 2000. CHANGE Conference on Gender Equality, Development and Peace for the 21st Century, UK. A review of the Processes and Issues Arising from the Beijing Platform for Action.

5 - 9 June 2000. Beijing +5 Review, Special Session of the UN General Assembly "Women: 2000: Gender Equality, Development and Peace for the Twenty-First Century", New York. 

22 - 26 May 2000. The Millennium Forum "The UN in the 21st Century: We the Peoples…", New York. As part of the preparations for the Millennium Assembly and Summit at the UN (September 2000.

11-13 May 2000, Women Transforming Politics: Recognising Gender in International Relations, Boston. Brought together scholars, policy makers and activists to reflect on the significance of gender analysis in specific economic, security, and human rights policy areas, and how it can contribute to better theory, analysis, policy, and social action.

10-12th March 2000- Euroconference on "Women, Violence and Reconciliation," Trinity College Dublin. Keynote speakers included Caroline Moser, Lead Specialist on Social Development at the World Bank, Mari Fitzduff, Director of INCORE (Initiative on Conflict Resolution and Ethnicity, Northern Ireland), Liz McManus, Labour Party (Ireland), Cynthia Cockburn, Professor of Sociology at City University, London, Ronit Lentin from the Department of Sociology, Trinity College and various other speakers from around the world.

8th March 2000. Campaign launch at the United Nations in New York on International Women's Day. Attended by hundreds of groups, governments and UN officials Moderated by Carol Jenkins (New York anchor and talk show host and Daljit Dhaliwal, women from around the world stood up and let their voices be heard in this "Town Hall style meeting" where more than 3000 people participated. Kofi Annan and Mary Robinson, both gave forceful presentations emphasising the role of women in peacebuilding.

27 February - 17 March 2000. Global Preparatory Meeting of the Commission for the Status of Women for the Beijing + 5 Review, New York.

February 2000. European Launch at the Economic Commission for Europe/Geneva. The Economic Commission for Europe's regional preparatory meeting for Beijing+5 was held in Geneva in February 2000. This event was organised with a number of high level speakers including Rita Rahman, Head of the Women's Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Netherlands, Bineta Diop, Executive Director of Femmes Africa Solidarite; Mevlida Kunosic Vlajic, Parliamentarian and Manager, Tuzla Agency for Local Development Initiatives; Noeleen Heyzer, Executive Director, UNIFEM and Mrs Anne Gallagher (Advisor on Trafficking, UN Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights.

1st February 2000. UK Campaign Launch, London . At the conference of the "Gender and Development NGO Network," entitled How have NGOs fared in working towards the goals of the Beijing Platform for Action? The Campaign was introduced by Eugenia Piza Lopez, International Alert and Wanjiru Kihoro, Director of "ABANTU for Development", shared some of her first-hand experiences as a woman peacebuilder from the South.

18 - 19 January 2000. Geneva, Preparatory Meeting for Europe for the Beijing + 5 Review (Economic Commission for Europe). The campaign organised a panel of speakers to highlight women’s concerns in armed conflict situations, and push for the necessary policy changes.

24 - 28 January 2000. West Africa Peace Conference, Guinee/Conakry, organised by the Forum of Parliamentarians and Ministers of Guinee-Conakry.

November 1999. Mid-Decade Review of the Implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action, Addis Abbaba.

11-13 November 1999. US launch of the campaign at the Annual Forum of the Association of Women in Development. It was attended by approximately 80 people, and rounded up by an impressive call for support to civil society groups and policy makers through Nancy Rubin, US Ambassador to the UN Commission on Human Rights.

July 1999. Women and the Aftermath of Conflict in South Africa with initial consultation on the campaign. 

June 1999. World Bank Conference on Women, Armed Conflict and Political Violence. Washington DC, USA.
