International Alert’s Training & Learning team is offering a new training course Understanding Conflict ‘Training for Peace’ to practitioners in the peacebuilding and development sectors, especially those engaged in the delivery of peacebuilding training.
Course aim
The aim of the course is two-fold:
- To support and build training capacity on relevant peacebuilding topics
- To develop a pool of trainers in peacebuilding
This training course will explore some of the key topics in peacebuilding today, focusing on the current challenges and trends, using case studies and examples of peacebuilding practice. Some of the areas that we would like to explore are:
- Conflict analysis/conflict sensitivity
- Gender in peacebuilding
- Economic dimensions of peacebuilding
- Transformative approaches to conflict: dialogue and mediation
- Transitional justice and reconciliation
The course will take place in Nairobi, Kenya between 7th and 11th October 2013.
