E-bulletin August 2009

Dear Colleague,

Welcome to the August edition of Alert's e-bulletin.

This month we cover a wide range of issues on which we work. You can learn about our efforts to improve support mechanisms for female victims of sexual violence in West Africa; our training for Nepali civil society and media aimed at broadening the security debate beyond Kathmandu; and our ongoing commitment to aid effectiveness in the UK. You can also find out more about our work in the Philippines and on the Mindanao conflict, our events and upcoming training courses.

As part of our partnership with radio station Passion for the Planet, you can also listen to a series of interviews with our Secretary General aimed at deepening the public’s understanding of peacebuilding.

We would like take this opportunity to ask you to take part in a very brief poll: what do you think the future risks and opportunities for peace might be?

What’s your view?

Our poll, which consists of only 9 questions, will help us to develop a greater public understanding of peacebuilding. We want to know what you think about why we are here and what we do. Click here to take part.

We hope to learn from the results of the poll, which we will also be promoting through our facebook and homepage sites, more about public attitudes and perceptions of the situation facing the world today and what we need to do to resolve conflict without violence.

We will publicise these results and return to them regularly to attempt to track public opinion and any influence we may be having on it. So thank you in advance for your time, it is very much appreciated.
