Diamond trade and development – The new film Blood Diamond
is set against the backdrop of Sierra Leone's conflict in the
1990s. Improvements have been made by the diamond
industry over the last decade, but International Alert believes
that more can be done to ensure precious resources fuel positive
development in Africa rather than conflict. Read more about this issue here

Serbian election observing –
Serbia’s crucial elections at the end of January were observed by five
trainees who took part in the ‘Introduction to Election Observation’

International Alert
International Alert is an independent peacebuilding organisation
working in over 20 countries and territories around the world. Our dual
approach involves working directly with people affected by violent
conflict as well as at government, EU and UN levels to shape both
policy and practice in building sustainable peace.
