Peaceworkers UK - International
Alert is delighted to announce that from September 2006 the core
programme staff and activities of Peaceworkers UK will formally become
a part of our operations. A small NGO specialising in training
civilians to contribute to peacebuilding, Peaceworkers’ overall aims
compliment Alert’s own aims perfectly. You can follow this link for more details. Peaceworkers are running a number of courses this Autumn. You can find out more about the up-coming training courses here.

12th September: Justice and Forgiveness in South Africa - International Alert trustee, and highly respected psychologist Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela talks about her new book, A Human Being Died That Night; an extraordinary dialogue between the author, a black South African, and Eugene de Kock, the commanding officer of state death squads under apartheid.Venue: St Ethelburga's, London. 21st September: International Day of Peace - A preview screening of, Dealing and Wheeling in Small Arms,
a new documentary which examines the impact small arms
have on the world. The film looks through the lenses of three
men who rely on guns for a living, and travels to Brazil, Cambodia and
the Congo. Afterwards you get to ask the director, Sander Francken and
Alert staff your questions, before rising star of African hip-hop and
former child soldier, Emmanuel Jal takes the stage. Venue: Ritzy

19th October: PeaceTalks - Is peace possible? -
An evening of debate and discussion looking at the recent developments
in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. What can the successes and
failures of peace processes around the world teach us about building

International Alert
International Alert is an independent peacebuilding organisation
working in over 20 countries and territories around the world. Our dual
approach involves working directly with people affected by violent
conflict as well as at government, EU and UN levels to shape both
