The origins of most violent conflicts go back years, if not decades or centuries. Most of these conflicts take place in developing countries, especially the very poorest ones. Many are long-lasting and will take years to heal.
By including International Alert in your will, you will be making a valuable contribution to peace by enabling us to continue supporting communities affected or threatened by violent conflict. Your legacy will help us build a peaceful future for individuals and their families recovering from violent conflict.
Why make a will?
Making a will makes things easier for those tending to your affairs after your death, and it ensures that, after all the relatives and friends you love are provided for, your legacy can also contribute to the causes that are closest to your concerns and hopes.
How to leave a legacy gift?
You can leave a gift to International Alert in your will in 3 ways:
- A residuary legacy (all or part of the net value of your estate)
- A pecuniary legacy (a specific sum of money)
- A specific legacy (a particular item of value, such as jewellery, property or shares)
Whatever you leave, however large or small, will help to create a world where conflicts are managed and resolved without violence.
We recommend that you consult a solicitor before making or amending your will. He or she will be able to ensure that your will is legally valid and that everything you need to cover is included.
