Robert Muggah, the Research Director at the Igarapé Institute, has shared this tool which he designed with Google as part of the Google Ideas Initiative on illicit networks: http://googleblog.blogspot.com.br/2012/08/a-new-way-to-visualize-global-arms-trade.html [3].
The visualisation reveals patterns and trends in imports and exports of arms and ammunition across the world, making it easy to explore how they relate to conflicts worldwide.
You´ll need Google Chrome to run the tool.
The Igarapé Institute is setting up new mobile tools for tracking violence and enhancing police accountability in Rio, Nairobi and Cape Town in the coming months.
