The Human Rights Watch Film Festival [5] returns to London from 24th March – 1st April with a programme packed full of documentaries and dramas set to inspire, inform and trigger debate. This year, in association with the Festival, we are proud to present the opening night film – the UK premiere of Denis Villeneuve’s Academy Award-nominated Incendies.
Masterfully adapted from the acclaimed play by Wajdi Mouawad, Incendies brings to life a moving and epic tale through the unravelling of one woman’s mysterious past, shifting back and forth in time to reveal a powerful story of the devastating effects of war and family trauma, juxtaposed with enduring love.
As part of the opening night celebrations, the screening of Incendies is followed by a discussion with the Beirut Director of Human Rights Watch plus a special guest, and audience members are invited to a reception.
