Dan Smith
Secretary General

Areas of expertise: peacebuilding and armed conflict generally; peace negotiations and treaties; peacebuilding in the Balkans, Central Asia and the Middle East; climate change.

Dan has been the Secretary General of International Alert since December 2003, coming from a distinguished research career that led to active involvement in peace processes. Read more

Areas of expertise: conflict and peacebuilding in Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Colombia and the South Caucasus region.
