Our documentary, Voices from Kasserine, was screened as part of the London International Documentary Festival on Sunday 26 November 2017. The screening was followed by a Q&A with the directors, Olfa Lamloum and Michel Tabet.
The film looks at the lives of ordinary citizens in Kasserine, Tunisia, one of the strongholds of the January 2011 revolution. Six years on, what do local farmers, unemployed young graduates and civil society activists have to say about their lives, struggles, hopes and dreams?
Offering a look at a region long blighted by marginalisation, the film acts as a platform for exchange and discussion on issues of neglect in Tunisia's peripheries.
Directed by visual anthropologist Michel Tabet and political scientist and International Alert's Tunisia Country Manager Olfa Lamloum, filmed by Talal Khoury, photo director of several Arab films awarded international prizes, and produced by International Alert.
