The third Conflict Ideas Forum will explore the changing nature of Gulf engagement in Middle East and North African states over the course of the Arab Spring. What has the impact been prior to, during and since the Arab Spring? What opportunities are there for strengthening the impact Gulf states have on peace and stability? How can the peacebuilding community better engage and collaborate with these increasingly important and influential actors?

The second Conflict Ideas Forum looks at the issue of large scale, violent conflict that neither fits formal and familiar definitions of “armed conflict”, nor fits in the mandates of international institutions that have the task of managing and mitigating. The focus is in particular on criminal violence. The forum will discuss how peacebuilding can contribute to understanding the broader, interconnected nature of violence.

The first Conflict Ideas Forum looks at peacebuilding in Europe, exploring the peace and conflict dynamics at play in a time of crisis across the region. The forum will seek to identify the various pressures on Europe as a peacebuilding model, how these pressures are changing and emerging responses. In addition, the forum will define the resulting implications for peacebuilding policy and practice.
