Oil in Uganda
Harnessing the potential of oil for Uganda's peaceful development
This project aims to harness the potential of oil to contribute to Uganda’s peaceful development.
Improving understanding and interaction between local communities, the government and oil companies is crucial in minimising the risk of conflicts caused by oil exploration in Uganda, and in ensuring the country does not fall prey to the 'resource curse'.
We carry out research, set up oil information centres and encourage companies to fully incorporate conflict-sensitive business practices into their operations.
Through our research and legislators' guide, we have developed a reputation across government for reliable, transparent, objective and apolitical information on oil and gas exploration in Uganda.
